NYFW has the perfect New York attitude. They call New York the city that never sleeps and NYFW is the non stop event where there really is no time for sleep. As fashion week was winding down on days 6 and 7 the weather seemed to get worse and worse and by this I’m talking about too cold and too rainy to even go outside kind of weather. Even with all of this there were a few shows that I was not going to miss. I had been ecstatic to get to go to the Alice + Olivia presentation so there was no way a little rain and not so much shine was going to stop me from hitting the show or from going to see the elaborate and decadent designs at Naeem Khan. Come on we’re big girls, we can handle a little rain! We do it for the blog (and the love of fashion of course)!
Chiara Boni La Petite Robe | Fall 2016 Runway Show
Chiara Boni has really continued to grow her brand, La Petite Robe to great lengths. This season the designer introduced an eco leather in to her collection. In both shades of burgundy and black the leather showed the true detail of each fit of the garments making each piece sexier and more provocative. Think dominatrix meets uptown chic. Along with a few other designers I have noticed the trend of pastels for fall which I am over the mood for the idea of. A part of the collection eventually incorporated a powdery baby blue in a variety of pieces giving a very different vibe that the shows beginning more sexxxxxy red and black vibes.
Alice + Olivia | FW16 Presentation
Stacey Bendet has been one of my favorite designers since I was probably about 11 or 12 years old. I have literally grown up as the brand, Alice + Olivia, has grown too. It sounds cheesy and nostalgic but I grew up in Alice + Olivia so they have a very special place in my heart. This year at NYFW Bendet went for a very seventies reference as she is always one for a good pair of bell bottoms or a pussybow blouse. She even goes to say that when she first started Alice + Olivia all of her inspiration was photos of her mom in amazing bell bottom pants. So in any case this was a truly nostalgic show for all of us.
Naeem Khan | Fall 2016 Runway Show
Naeem Khan is another designer who decided to take a new direction this NYFW. The collection not only incorporated mixing of rich colors but also of elaborate textures able to be seen throughout the variant of color by using crochet and knit for the perfect effect. He took the looks away from the more classic Middle Eastern based consumer that has grown so fond of him but instead went for an incredibly fall esque motif in an elaborate yet delicate way.
