NYFW Diary | Day 1

New York Fashion Week Diary Fall/Winter 2016: To Style, With Love

Oh my dear readers, you didn’t think I was going to deprive you of all of my up close and personal shots from my New York Fashion Week experience did you?  Of course, I am here and to the rescue and back to share my experiences of NYFW with you right here at our daily meeting place!  New York is a thriving city, it gives you energy, it gives me the energy I don’t even usually have!  New York gives me the energy to keep going and the drive to want to get my job done and get it done well.  So let’s jump right on into my New York Fashion Week Diary, Day 1… First up the À Moi FW16 Presentation!

À Moi | FW16 PresentationA Moi FW16 Presentation/ New York Fashion Week: To Style, With Love

Wakey wakey upper east sider’s as Gossip Girl would lavishly announce, and that is just what we did to beat it downtown for the À Moi Presentation.  This New York based brand is known for its Artistry and function in creating collections that embody femininity and experimentation matched by an artisanal edge.  This collection as Alejandra Alonso herself told me was inspired by that of Geometry and all the shapes and lines that we see in every object were used to create this collection.  I’m obsessed with the culottes and I am always one for a good bell sleeve.

Mathieu Mirano | FW16 PresentationMathieu Mirano FW16 Presentation/ New York Fashion Week: To Style, With Love

Next, just a few blocks over at the iconic Pier 59 we traveled upstairs to see the Mathieu Mirano presentation.  Another fresh New York based designer who has been on the scene since about 2011 showed his models behind a cement wall where they could truly be seen on presentation in a deserted space type utopia, think Mars meets Marc Jacobs.  Mathieu’s Fall/Winter 16 Collection is inspired by Space and his fascination of what lies beyond, with perfect timing coinciding with the return of X files!  Oh and did I mention there were live turtles in their with the models too, rumor has it they had to stop the presentation at one point because the turtles got a little too “excited” if you know what I mean.

Jay Godfrey | FW16 PresentationJay Godfrey FW16 Presentation/ New York Fashion Week: To Style, With Love

Rush, Rush, Rush over to the Jay Godfrey Presentation while there is still time!  I am a longtime fan of Jay Godfrey having seen his name popping up all over the place from time to time I was thrilled to see what he would be doing next.  New York-based designer Jay Godfrey is the founder and creative director behind his eponymous collection of sleek, sexy and sophisticated designs. Perpetually inspired by the chic New York woman, Godfrey’s goal as a designer is to meld the classic tailoring techniques of Savile Row with modern silhouettes and luxurious fabrics. The result is his distinctive contemporary collection of dresses and separates that accentuate the female figure.  Did I mention the jewelry collaboration with ANMARE?  I think the pieces were the perfect final touch to the entire presentation.  Bravo

Desigual | Fall 2016 Runway Show

Desigual Fall 2016 Runway Show/ New York Fashion Week: To Style, With Love

The most exciting part of the day was heading to Skylight at Moynihan Station right in the heart of New York City for the Desigual Fall 2016 Runway show.  Desigual did not fail us to uphold their classic Desigual style.  The Fall 2016 Collection was paying an Homage to the ever evolving and inspiring urban metropolis.  Throughout history cities have been a meeting place for people of different cultures to come to share and experience their own stories.  The brand looks to the vibrancy of city life and all of its creative lifeblood for its Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. The collection’s aesthetic is a metaphor for the 21st century, visualized as a textured collage, where technology, trends and a global culture now are one.  With that said New York was the perfect location to show this collection!

Hanley | FW16 Presentation

Hanley FW16 Presentation/ New York Fashion Week: To Style, With Love

The last show of the night was the Hanley Fall/Winter 2016 Presentation where all the models were presented with in golden embossed frames as if to be looking at an ornate painting.  And yes, of course, Hanley by Nicole Hanley could not be any more quintessential New York with the HANLEY trademark, with the latitude-longitude coordinates of New York City the HANLEY hometown and starting point of the collection story- is also a nod to the sentiment of travel and return.
