Oh to be lost somewhere deep in the countryside of France. To be in love and to get lost in a daisy field with a picnic packed just for the two of you. Les Emotifs Anonymes is French for Romantic’s Anonymous and I must say that I am definitely a member for the club. I love to romanticise and daydream about the romantic aspects of the world. There is beauty and love everywhere you look and truly in everything, there is even beauty in pain as hard as it is to believe. So I admit that I myself am a Romantic Anonymous. And now for some more romanticizing. . . last month I spent some time with my love in the Charente region of France. The Charente is a popular spot for vacationers from England and my love’s family has a vacation home there that we like visit each time that I am about across the pond. The region is filled with quaint cottages and farms, fields filled with daisies or sunflowers and of course far far far too much bread and fromage. On this beautiful summer’s day my love and I decided to pack up a picnic and walk to a nearby daisy field to sit and soak up the French summer air. And that was really it, I mean every vacation needs some days that are actually V A C A T I O N. I am a city girl and I love running around a city exploring place to place and beaming in the bustle of the city. However, a day or two where you do nothing but lie around, eat some cheese and enjoy the breeze in the air is the best possible thing you can do to truly relieve yourself of the stress of daily life. I encourage you all in the last days of Summer to let the stress sit aside and take a deep breath to have a day where you do absolutely nothing but spend time with your favorite people, enjoy good food and turn on my Midnight in Paris playlist below to get the best vibes flowing through the air. That is truly the best kind of vacation that you can give yourself even if it is only for one day you will not regret it.
For my look on this day I wanted something both subtly casual and comfortable as I said above, because I spent my day laying around in a daisy field over a picnic with my love. I still needed something a little E X T R A about my look or else it wouldn’t be a true Daphne look without a little extra flair, over the top and brand obsessed touches. I wore this white eyelet lace dress from my favorite French – LA brand, L’ecole Des Femmes. I have spoken about the brand a lot on To Style, With Love as you know if you are one of my favorite people on the planet (aka my lovely readers). The French-American designer Laura Sfez does an amazing job at encapsulating the retro feel of French Icons like Brigitte Bardot and Edith Piaf in a new and modern way. Wearing something form L’ecole Des Femmes is like stepping into a time capsule or Tumblr photoshoot if you will. The feel makes you want to dance around old music by Jane Birkin and Ella Fitzgerald . . . so obviously that is exactly what I did. I paired my baby white dress with pastel blue mid heel wrap up pumps from Miu Miu (there is the brand-obsession aspect for you) and a denim jacket by Kenzo. Last but not least I made sure to put a few daisies in my hair and I had myself a perfectly French and relaxing day.
