What better a way to start off the week than with more installments of my Paris Diaries! Walking the isles of the river Seine with my love and snacking on some delicious and creamy ice cream is actually what I would consider the most perfect of all perfect Spring days. Did I mention it is rumoured to be the best ice cream IN THE WORLD from Berthillon! A definite must try at some point when visiting Paris. I will content that it was pretty damn good too. While I might opt for some crazy gelato in Milan over it, in terms of ice cream it is definitely top tier and hey, who doesn’t want to have tried the best ice cream in the world. Anyhow, I could probably talk about desserts for way too long (hmm maybe there’s a blog idea there…) let’s get on to the more important things…Shopping. Paris is the fashion capital of the world (wow Paris, so many bests of the world!) so obviously the fashion obsessed like myself fully thrive off of the sartorial energies about the city. One of my favorite places to frequent this trip to paris was Galeries Lafayette which is another place I shockingly hadn’t visited before!!! I KNOW, what is wrong with me! Fortunately I learned my lesson and spent more than one rainy evening, after the boutiques had closed, wandering around the Galleries of Paris. While I was on the hunt for the J’ADIOR 8 tshirt (sad face, it’s impossible to find) I didn’t have much luck and had to sow my sorrows over some other goodies. I ended up in the Givenchy department with a big huge smile on face purchasing the cutest logomania polo mini dress…stay tuned. With famous ice cream, Givenchy mini dresses, Galeries Lafayette, some sight seeing and of course a little too much cheese and wine I had yet another successful day gallivanting around Paris with my love.
My Look & The Trend
I have always always always been a huge fan of the print gingham. In fact if you are one of my most lovely and loyal readers you will know that this is far from being my first gingham appreciation post and that I have made many the bold statement in the past declaring gingham to actually be my favorite print. Well call me a trendsetter (lol) because the fashion community has seemed to of caught on this Spring/Summer season and gingham is E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E! I am talking skirts, blouses, dresses, shoes, bags, chokers, pants, skirts, bandanas…EVERYWHERE! I personally could not be more thrilled and I think most people have hopped right on the bandwagon with me. Gingham print is so fresh, youthful and spirited yet at the same time incredibly classic and sort of preppy. It is incredibly easy to pair with solid colors whether they are bright or neutral this print is a lot easier to style than you might think.
For my look today strolling around paris with ice cream and shopping bags I wore my new favorite cropped trousers from Topshop complete with little gingham frills on the ankles. I actually spotted these a bit back on Topshop’s instagram and sprung to their site and ordered myself a pair within minutes. I knew they were pretty much the pants of my dreams. I paired my perfect trousers with a sheer high neck bell sleeve blouse from Zara. This top is super versatile and incredibly chic, I’ve worn it both day and night plus day to night and am currently trying to cultivate a collection of sheer black blouses. I highly recommend the investment in one as an absolute closet essential! Annnddd then because every outfit needs a touch of Gucci I wore my large double G belt as a mix in of high end with high street, tied in a knot around my waist as the perfect accessory to really make the look POP. I paired the look with my classic Adidas Superstars since it was a walking day and my feet had been asking for a serious break with all the walking around in fab shoes I had been doing. That is the beauty of Adidas, for the simplest classic sneaker they are incredibly chic and versatile, essential to every fashion-girl’s closet. Last I grabbed my blue velvet Chanel wallet on chain packed with only the essentials and I was all ready. In terms of hair and makeup in this look I really feel as though they added a lot. I wore my hair in an incredibly sleek slicked back low pony tail, very french and minimalistic not to mention incredibly easy to do for us hair-illiterate people. Also I mentioned before that I felt gingham was incredibly easy to pair with solid colors and my favorite color to pair with gingham is red! So the final touch of my look was this deep burgundy red that I feel really made the entire look pop, it wouldn’t have been the same without it.
