Oh downtown… the illustrious downtown Los Angeles area is a mix and match of the financial district building up with luxury condominiums towers over the streets, rooftop bars and posh little boutique hotels and more hipster “trendy” restaurants and dessert spots than you can count. This is all mixed in and intertwined with urban downtown Los Angeles meaning actual vintage retro (not just retro decor themed) diners, old theatres with giant marquees and a taco stand or two that have lines of people waiting to try the authentic dishes. If you are having trouble trying to paint the picture in your head than you are not alone because it is truly a hodgepodge of everything the city has to offer and a little unbalanced from block to block. One of my favorite spots in downtown Los Angeles is the Little Tokyo Area! I have always wanted to travel to Japan and while I will someday soon, Little Tokyo gives me a great fix of Japanese culture in the meantime.
The Little Tokyo Shopping Center is the perfect place to spend an afternoon taking a peek in one of the many beauty stores and finding some new, cute and honestly quite fascinating japanese beauty products for example snail extract face masks, lip tints that dry then peel off and stain your skin or even a cat facemask yes a cat facemask I am not sure if it is supposed to make you look like a cat or what I honestly have no idea. If the beauty thing isn’t for you than I personally ADORE, a little too much, the Tokyo Lifestyle store where you can get any sort of Kawaii knick knack possible…seriously I could OD in that store and probably spend 10,000 dollars. Last but not least before grabbing something to eat you MUST MUST MUST try out one of the Japanese photo booths to complete Kawaii-ify yourself and become the anime doll that you hold dearly in your heart. Then after you pose it up for the photobooth you get to decorate each photo with cute little virtual stickers and print it out to take home. I honestly don’t think it gets any better than that!
For my day in Downtown Los Angeles, as spring has pretty much fully sprung and the city is glowing in a warm and breezy sun, I wore my new AYAI overalls with a matching AYAI button up long sleeve top. Did I mention the amazing low cut back of my overalls and how instead of traditional clasps they close with silk bows, very Rumi Neely aesthetic. For shoes I finally got to pull out my new pastel baby blue lace up Miu Miu patent pumps! Could these be more to die for?? I don’t think so! Whether I want to to wear two blue laces, two gingham or one of each these are a new staple in the To Style, With Love closet. Last but not least I grabbed my mini little Louis Vuitton backpack and hooked on a Poppy Lissiman fur bag charm to mix things up a bit since I can’t seem to stop wearing this bag. The versatility of it makes it perfect for every single occasion and not to mention timelessly chic.
