Hello my lovely and loyal readers! It’s Daph coming to you straight from Copenhagen and I find myself falling more and more in love with this city every single day. Today my L.A. and all time best friend/blogger Jennessa (see her blog here) arrived in Copenhagen to join in all of the festivities and good times. Since this is her first trip across the pond to the north she is even documenting some street style of the locals and really taking a grasp on what it is that they think of in their everyday dressing. As I mentioned in my last post there is a certain aesthetic and way of life and especially style to the beautiful citizens of denmark. Their palette is a monochromatic look with the occasional touch of red, on a Commes des Garcons shirt of course, and maybe the occasional peach or nude color instead of hues of black and grey. I am talking about very simple pieces that when put together look incredibly stylish and chic. Such as easy slacks, button ups and t-shirts with loafers or white sneakers on men and then cardigans, denim skirts, white t-shirts and sneakers or boots for the women. This is sort of minimalistic and sleek yet simple look you can find on pretty much everyone around any corner in Copenhagen.
My look today was completely effortless and incredibly comfortable, especially since I pulled out some of my favorite Miu Miu flats. But what I really noticed when opening my suitcase and the closet that I had ended up packing quite the array of denim. We are all creatures of habit and in Denmark or not I do often find myself wearing a little too much black, don’t we all! But denim was very relevant in my wardrobe that I brought with me to Denmark. Weather it was a few different denim skirts, mom jeans, skinny jeans, flare jeans and even a denim top, DENIM was clearly on my mind whilst I was packing. One of my favorite newest editions is this Denim or Jean Jacket Coat that I got right before I left for my trip from Zara. I think that this is the most brilliant idea in decades and I can’t believe that no one else has thought of the idea sooner or at least that I haven’t been aware of it
Denim jackets are always an amazing and easy addition to an outfit, they are easy to grab on the go when you’re not sure what to pair with your look they can almost always make your outfit look effortlessly chic in just a matter of seconds. Take a cue from Jenna Lyons, cuff your sleeves up and put a little denim with every look whether formal or casual, day or night you can never go wrong with a little denim. Especially here in Denmark.
This look started off in an incredibly simple way too. Do you ever find yourself in an outfit that took you 5 minutes to style but people ask you, “why are you so dressed up” or “how did you think of that”. And then you sound a little bit conceived by saying, “oh this old thing! I just threw this on!” Because the truth is that it is just a dress, one garment. You didn’t have to ponder owers thinking over and over of what to wear, no you simply put on one piece and made it look right, fit and like you put in effort to look as incredible as you always do. This happens to me all the time and I get way to much credit for what I do when I get dressed this time. I had no intentions of blogging this outfit when I posted it, it was just a tshirt and a skirt. However, with the addition of some killer shoes and a simple denim jacket you can make a simple look into one people could talk about for ages.
