It all starts with an idea or a dream if you will. For most of us we aren’t even entirely sure what the exact idea is but we know that we have a thirst for it. Fashion has been my (pardon me) passion for as long as I can remember and once I discovered the blogosphere I was done, I knew I had to be a part of it. I wanted so badly to start my own blog and share my styling tips, different looks and perspective on what was going on in the fashion world. It took me a little while to gain the confidence but I knew I had an eye and I could present beautiful content that would set me apart from the rest. Fast forward a few months now — the idea grows and is starting to become a bit more than a hobby but, the question is how to grow? How to get these amazing opportunities that you can only see to dream of on Instagram? How to get the attention of world renowned amazing brands? Is it just because you don’t have a million Instagram followers, or a good instagram manager, or is there something you don’t know and certainly how do you make the connections that you need to move yourself up the ladder. How, I googled and researched trying to find outlets to market myself with but it wasn’t until I finally found Collectively Inc, an Influencer Agency, did I begin to cultivate myself as a professional blogger.
Collectively has been ever so faithful to me since the first collaboration they helped me get (for Clinique) and I proved myself worthy to them. From then on I got offers to submit myself for many different jobs with incredible brands like Zappos.com, Coach, Keds, Nordstroms, Vaseline, Levi’s and so many more. Through the help of Collectively I was able to begin growing like I had only dreamed of. I was getting to work with some of my favorite brands and grow my very own dream business while doing what I love everyday. By working with Collectively I was finally validated for all the hard work that I was putting in even though I didn’t have hundreds of thousands of followers, I was being appreciated and awarded for my creativity and skill. I was being given the opportunity to create unique content for brands I love and for me It simply doesn’t get any better than that. And I don’t want you to think this is that sort of #sponsored crap because it is entirely the opposite. Collectively takes the chance to learn all about you and to pair you up with brands that align with your vision. After this the content is entirely up to you for the campaign, it is 100% your vision that you get to bring forth. This was the start of building To Style, With Love from the exposure to the experience there is no chance I would be traveling in the direction that I am today if it was not for Collectively giving me the opportunity to collaborate with brands!

I am sorry for not talking about my look much in this post so if you have any questions make sure to leave me a comment and i’ll get back to you! This look is from my recent trip to Paris and is something that I wore out to dinner in the early spring where it is not quite warm enough to get away without a jacket. I’ve noticed this spring that gingham is EVERYWHERE and if you follow To Style, With Love consistently than I am sure you guessed that this thrills me as I have always expressed gingham to be my absolute favorite pattern! I paired this gingham blouse from Missguided with a black mini skirt with side pleats from Zara and my classic moto jacket. To add a little edge to my look I wore small netted fishnet tights and then to bring it back and make it classic again I wore my perfect suede black Louboutins, very french indeed. Last but not least a tad bit of color, even if it’s dark, a blue velvet Chanel wallet on chain, don’t forget a choker (duh) and you are all ready to hit the town as French as the rest of em! A little layering and mixing of textures with prints for a nice contrast for a night out for dinner in my favorite city Paris.
• Aligning with the brand. You want to stay true to yourself but you also want to make the brands you’re working with happy. Do some research and check out the brands social media to see what color schemes and aesthetics they prefer, then find overlap between your own visions and there is where the collaboration can start.
• Map out your vision! Come up with a basic idea of the types of photos that you want to take and find inspiration to help. Search for ideas on sites like Tumblr, Pinterest and We Heart It. With these images create a folder on your desktop or even print and map out your visions.
• Plan your shoot. When doing a professional collab you really want to make sure that you go the distance, go above and beyond to create beautiful content for the brand that you are working with and for yourself and your own business/brand. Have ideas of all the different photos you want to take and know everything that you will need in order to achieve them whether it’s props, ideal location and very importantly lighting. You want to have everything planned out to get the shots you want.
• Go the extra mile! You might have to wake up a little earlier to get to that prime location before it’s packed with people, you might buy two dozen roses for the shoot or even some pastries and macaroons to look cute in a flat lay. Either way, go the extra mile and you will be applauded for your dedication and commitment to creating beautiful content and most importantly brands will notice the hard work that you put in, that is where it really counts!
