Even though I have lived in LA for a very long you just become accustomed to your own parts of Los Angeles and the other areas are almost like traveling to a new place you’ve never been before. There’s the westside, the valley, Malibu, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown and a lot others. I am more of a central girl I go about as far as Brentwood to the west, Hollywood to the east and Encino to the North. Now if all of this LA geography is confusing to you than just understand that for a city it is nothing like New York where everything is crammed together, no in Los Angeles everything is spread out and with all the traffic it makes it nearly impossible to to hit a lot of different areas in one day. On this particular day however, this city girl was in the mood for a more beachy atmosphere and decided to venture down to Venice for some amazing poke, street vendors and all around hipster people watching (probably the best part).
The street to hit in particular if you are looking for some real real trendy Venice vibes is Abbot Kinney Blvd. Abbot Kinney is an eclectic spot with all times and a little something for everyone. The street features the likes of an Aesop and the instagram famous Piece Collective, where you can pick up some Stone Cold Fox or For Love and Lemons, for the high end and carefree, model off duty type. In addition to this Abbot Kinney has tons of boutiques featuring a variety of things from vintage pieces to 40$ socks. Obviously there is not only shopping but also some amazing little restaurant gems and a Salt & Straw, which if you aren’t aware is the best ice cream in LA. My favorite part, obviously as a photo op connoisseur, is all of the street art on various buildings. Don’t just walk by looking in the store windows, make sure and look at the stores themselves for really interesting and eclectic aesthetics. If you are coming to Los Angeles any time soon it’s definitely worth a trip down to venice to visit Abbot Kinney for the full LA experience.
