How To Pretend You’re Cool
Okay, let’s face there is something in the appeal of being cool. Now you could combat this with saying you don’t care what people think about you or about being cool and I would completely agree with you! I could care less about if people think I’m cool! I’m not talking about being cool I’m talking about looking cool and by that I mean the fad of the epitomy of cool girl style. I am talking about those cool girls like Alexa Chung, Sonya Esman, Gizele Oliveira, Patricia Manfield or Gilda Ambrosio. You know I could go on but let me divulge in what these women do that makes them the quintessential cool girl. These women have conquered the I just rolled out of bed – bed head, no-makeup – makeup and of course the art of making a t-shirt look like haute couture (okay maybe not couture but you know what I mean). There is an effortless way of looking when it comes to cool girl style and the look is that they look like they couldn’t give any f**ks about anything yet they also look flawless and perfectly put together. It sounds so simple but achieving the quintessential cool girl look is a lot harder than these IT-Girls make it look. I truly believe that as most fashion goes, the cool girl style takes years to achieve the final flawless look but these are my simple tips on how to achieve the cool girl look. So grab some sea salt spray for tousled hair, tinted moisturizer, a pinky rose colored lip tint and of course some rose water spray for that dewy and fresh look then you’re halfway there to your cool girl look.
A classic cool girl look often includes some kind of high waisted jeans and an incredibly cool either high end (I’m talking J’adore Dior) or vintage (maybe a band or cool print) t-shirt. The jeans and t-shirt dressed up gives the illusion of not caring yet casual seeming attitude which all cool girls must attain, duh :P! For my cool girl look I paired these high waisted Tibi embellished culotte jeans with a vintage Harley Davidson t-shirt that I picked up on my last trip to London. Obviously my cool girl look needed a super chic and versatile coat or jacket and leather is usually the best way to go. Since it is winter instead of my usual leather jacket or maybe a bomber would’ve looked nice too, I paired the look with my go to Acne Studios shearling coat. A cool girl look needs an effortlessly chic bag that can be worn with anything and is usually a closet investment if you catch me, so I grabbed my vintage Chanel black flap bag and last but not least you can always wear a wow shoe for that final fashion girl touch to your cool girl style. I wore my pointed toe black Christian Louboutin pumps. Don’t forget a choker because every cool girl closet has at least 10 and you’re ready to go! You have now put in a ton of effort into looking effortless and can now pretend that you are the epitome of a classi quintessential cool girl!
