NYFW Diary | Backstage at Leanne Marshall with Aveda
During New York Fashion Week, day 3 to be exact, I was invited by Aveda to come back stage at Leanne Marshall’s Fall 2016 runway show and see where all the magic happens before it hits the stage. The backstage area is not what you’re expecting, it doesn’t look like The Plaza or The Ritz, but it is beautiful in its own right. It’s beautiful because of the stunning couture hanging from the racks as though they were handled with care, and the beauty of watching the makeup artists create literal art on the model’s faces, oh yes the beauty is everywhere.
Aveda’s Guest artist for Leanne Marshall was Jon Reyman who decided to draw on the craft of Macrame for Marshall’s show. Reflecting parisian elegance with a Cobra Braid on many of the models by employing a traditional macrame stitch technique. I find it so interesting how one craft can draw inspiration from another and come together as such. For the makeup the global artistic director of makeup at Aveda, Janell Geason went for ombre eyes at the Leanne Marshall show. The idea was to evoke mystery and strength, making the look all about the eyes by complementing them with a nude and natural lip.Make sure and catch up with the rest of my NYFW Diary here!
