May + June Beauty Favorites
Hello my darling and very dear readers! I am here with a beauty post for you today, as you may have noticed I have been getting more and more into beauty blogging and as it has always been a minor obsession of mine I don’t mind delving in and sharing with you all. As I have and I am sure that you have you have seen many youtube videos of people sharing their monthly favorites and getting this kind of raw and genuine review and learning what people really liked and what worked for them is something that I personally really like. So here I am to join in on the fun and in today’s post I am going to be sharing my favorite beauty products from May and so far this June. I hope you enjoy and please leave me a comment and let me know if you’ve tried any of these products or if you have any suggestions!
This was my very first palette and dip into the realm of eyeshadows by Anastasia Beverly Hills. After seeing a few makeup tutorials and the fact that I just adored the colors in the palette as they were fairly different than anything else I had, I went ahead and purchased the Modern Renaissance palette. OH MY GOODNESS never have I ever had a palette with such pigmented shadows! I was absolutely thrilled and immediately insisted my friends try out my palette and see just what I was talking about. Not only are each of the shadows incredible but the brush that comes in the palette is actually amazing. I usually never use the little sort of cheap brushes that come in palettes and compacts but this palette came with a great quality brush that I use almost every time I use the palette too. I can not recommend this palette enough!
To think that I have actually had this Givenchy lipstick for a while I must’ve only used it once or twice before and forgotten about it but, this lipstick has had a resurgence in my makeup routine. It is not quite a red, not quite a pink but actually a true raspberry in a silky creamy sort of texture you don’t entierly feel like you are wearing an opaque lipstick but instead it has a hydrating effect keeping your lips moisturized instead of dried out like many lipsticks tend to do.
• Louis Vuitton Apogee Perfume
When Louis Vuitton decided to come out with a line of perfumes they were not at all playing around. They pulled out all of the stops even by using the oldest perfumeries in Paris to help curate each individual element of the scents. One of my favorite perfumes in my collection and one of the newest editions is my Louis Vuitton Apogee. It was explained to me to be the scent of a spring mountain if you will, when looking it up exactly it is the scent of the lily-of-the-valley when ascending to blissful heights. Not only this but mixed with petals of jasmine, magnolia and rose, I mean come on this perfume is the true example of decadence with it’s incredibly fresh and romantic smell. Go ask for a sample at Louis Vuitton and see exactly what I mean.
The Biossance Squalane Oil is a newer edition to my bathroom but so far I must say that I am loving the overall textural difference that I am seeing in my skin. My skin is softer and smoother but what I especially love about this oil, as someone with incredibly sensitive skin, is that this oil is all natural so I don’t have to worry about any pesky additives bothering my skin or flaring up a rash. I like to use it on both my face and my body once or twice a week for babies bum soft skin!
These are on the list of quite a few beauty gurus when it comes to the highlighter du jour and I myself do own quite a few highlighters, not going to lie! This is the only Becca highlighter I have and for the summer months I like to do my makeup in a very bronzed, sort of golden glowy way. The Becca highlighter in Topaz is the absolute perfect color to get a truly sun kissed golden look. Since I have tan skin it works perfectly as a highlighter for me but if you are a bit more fair you may want to try using it mixed in with your contour powder for a glow from within look.
If you are looking for a liquid eyeliner that won’t simply smudge all over the place while you are trying to apply it then I highly recommend the Dior Addict It-Line! This eyeliner has the type of brush applicator that allows you to make an absolute flawless feline flick that glides on without using any pressure or splattering all over the play. If you love a good cat eye than you understand the importance of both the formula and especially the brush when it comes to application.
I have been a fan of the YSL Beauty Gloss Volupte Lip Gloss for a while and I recently saw that they had come out with some lip tints so obviously I picked one up at sephora. With the uprising of lip gloss after they had sort of calmed down with the lipstick craze they have come back with a vengeance and I love the subtle tint glossy tint that comes with the YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil.
The Jo Malone velvet rose & oud oil is an absolute essential of mine. I always put it on everyday after either a bath or a shower I put a squirt on my wrists and behind my ears. Rubbed in on fresh and clean skin the scent will last all day as it sinks into your skin and becomes one with your own natural scent. The scent is timeless, romantic, sultry and yet incredibly fresh. I would try layering it with your favorite perfume for a unique while waiting a few moments after application to let the oil really settle in.
The Miss Dior Cherie perfume has been one of my favorite for the longest time, I mean years. Not only is it a classic with its perfect little bottle with the silver bow, but I mean it is absolutely iconic! Every time I found myself getting compliments on my perfume it was always for Miss Dior Cherie so when dior released A NEW MISS DIOR you know I was going to bite the bullet. The Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming has replaced my Miss Dior Cherie on the shelf and gets even more compliments on it’s scent. You will definitely want to stop by a beauty counter and get a sample to try out before you purchase your own!
We all know that it is the age of the eyebrows and Anastasia Beverly Hills has really been at the forefront of the brow revolution. Filling in your brows has become essential to one’s beauty routine and the perfect pencil or powder can make the biggest difference. I personally have quite thick and wide brows so unless I want to sit there for ten minutes meticulously filling them in with a thin and tiny pencil I had to find something new. I used to always use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz which is the tinier more pencil like version of their brow pencil but, it just took me so long to fill in to get the perfect brow and I would get frustrated. So instead I decided one brow pencil refill to try out the Anastasia Brow Definer instead. This one is a thicker angled pencil that gives me the perfect flick each time and makes filling in my brows incredibly easy and they still come out looking polished.
The Nars Velvet Lip Glides (specifically in the red tones as I haven’t tried any of the others yet) have become a real favorite of mine and I especially like to mix them. The two I chose to feature here, Plato & Toy, vary in shade and I like to blend them together to create a sort of more ombred red or Marilyn red if you will (Marilyn actually wore many shades of red in one to attain her iconic look). Don’t expect these to dry fully down or to be kiss proof but they will give you a sultry look that can spice up any makeup look. My favorite thing to do is to go for a Sofia Loren sort of Dolce & Gabbana look with these lipsticks, pairing them with a nude eye and a classic black cat eye.
Setting sprays have become more and more popular and I have actually been using setting spray after applying my makeup for years. As time passed by more brands have come out with their own and my newest edition is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Perfection Coconut Setting Mist. Coconut is actually my favorite scent or flavor so when I saw this and my other bottle of setting spray was getting low I knew I wanted to try it out. Just a few sprays all over the face once you are done applying your makeup and you will find your “face” staying in place and on your face for much much longer than usual. Especially if you have more oily skin like I do than setting spray is a MUST!
For all the contour fanatics like me Chanel Soliel Tan is something you will definitely want to invest in. Whether you want to use it as your actual contour creme for a more natural look or if you are going full glam I like to blend out my contour using the cream. This cream will help to give the face a more natural soft warm glowy bronzed look like you’ve just come off the beach in the bahamas. This is definitely one of my must have products, I am actually on about my 3rd or 4th jar of the stuff!
